Destination Waterfront Development

Overview

In 2019, the Port Commission accepted the Port Vision 2050 plan. Port Vision 2050 was an 18-month process that sought input on goals for Port activities through 2050 from key stakeholders and the community at large. One of the key community goals that emerged from this effort was to “Turn the Port Peninsula into a premier destination by adding attractions, increasing accessibility, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

The Port recognizes that the Port Peninsula can be transformed into a revenue-generating, environmentally sustainable, community asset with the proper planning and vision in place.

The Port has contracted with an award-winning team to ensure we have the process and resources we’ll need to succeed. Thomas Architecture Studio (TAS), SCJ Alliance, and SiteWorks have an impressive track record when it comes to organizing and executing initiatives of this magnitude, and an unparalleled understanding of the people and values of Thurston County. This work was completed with the assistance of a Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) grant.
